How we build it right

The process behind concrete sidewalks & walkways built to last

Credibility comes from how it's built, not from promises. Here's the order of operations on every concrete sidewalks & walkways job.

01

Compacting the subgrade for sandy soil

We prep and compact the subgrade over Tampa Bay's sand and limestone so the path keeps its line instead of rising and dropping panel by panel where the water table runs shallow.

02

Pouring to 4 inches

A walkway goes down on a 4-inch base, which is the depth foot traffic asks for, with fiber and welded wire mesh worked through to tie the slab together.

03

Spacing the joints

Control joints are spaced so the slab has set lines to move along as the sandy ground beneath it shifts and drains through the seasons.

04

Sloping the water off

We set the pitch so storm rain runs off the path rather than collecting, since water that sits on sandy soil both undercuts the base and leaves the surface slick.

05

Brooming for traction

A broom finish gives grip underfoot through rain, salt spray, and the everyday Tampa damp.

The one you don't have to worry about

01

We answer, and we come back

Most contractors vanish after the deposit. We pick up the phone, show up when we say, and stand behind the work after the truck leaves. The follow-through is the difference.

02

Managed crews, our name on it

A foreman we know runs your job and a vetted crew does the work, managed by Lucky's, one company accountable from the first call to the final walkthrough.

03

Fully insured, paperwork-ready

COI and lien waivers on file before we break ground. The documentation that lets commercial clients pay and gives homeowners peace of mind.

04

Built right, not cheap

Prepped subgrade, reinforced and mixed to spec for the job, and proper curing. We build credibility through the process, not promises. On concrete sidewalks & walkways, that starts with compacting the subgrade for sandy soil.

FAQ

Tampa concrete sidewalks & walkways, answered

How much does a concrete walkway cost in Tampa?

Walkways and sidewalks price by width, thickness, and base prep over sandy soil, plus the slope and slip-aware finish that frequent storms call for. As a starting range, walkways usually run about $8 to $13 per square foot. We put a number to it after walking the run.

Can a trip hazard be fixed without replacing the whole walk?

Often, yes. A single panel that ground movement or roots have lifted can frequently be ground down or swapped out rather than redoing the whole run. We track down the cause and steer you to the right fix.

Why have my walkway panels lifted at the joints?

Sandy ground takes on and sheds water unevenly under the panels and settles them at different rates, with a shallow water table and tree roots piling on. We rework the base, add fiber and mesh, and reset the joint layout on the repair so the movement doesn't simply come back.

Can you build ramps that meet ADA requirements?

Yes. We pour ramps and approaches to the slope and finish that accessibility calls for, with a slip-aware texture for wet weather. Tell us the use and we pour to it.

How do you space the joints on a walkway?

Spacing follows slab width and thickness so movement stays in hand. Too few joints is where uncontrolled cracking starts, and sandy ground that drains and shifts gives you no slack on it.

When is a new sidewalk ready to walk on?

Foot traffic usually waits a few days while the slab gains strength, a touch longer in heavy Tampa humidity. We give you the dates for your specific pour up front.
